There comes a time when I don't want to write a full-out blog post, but a Facebook note/status update or Twitter update just doesn't cut it... So, at the risk of sounding like the complete idiot I must be, here you have it--
- just realized that I could use the rain to wash my car (just realized it was raining again... NJ weather has gotten to be somewhat weird lately... We've been waiting for rain for I think about a month now. Stupid heat wave...)... No water wasted, no runoff, no chemicals-- no soap whatsoever actually, though one of these days I might invest in a bottle of something biodegradable... Anyway, just wash it in the rain (or do what I did & just wet it lol...), put it back into the carport/garage if you have one, and dry... It's the best /most environmentally friendly method I could think of at the moment... Just thought I'd give a suggestion...
- Fox's "independent" constitution expert said last week that Arizona's SB1070 is absolutely unconstitutional. Oops. Fox probably didn't want to share that...
- Learned some time back that giving ANY advice to a terrorist organization, even if you're telling them to use peaceful politics instead of violence, is a felony under the Patriot Act. Yay, freedom and civil liberties! (Also, apparently some Republican guy in Congress believes that liberals hate freedom... Oh yea. The idea of freedom just makes me so mad!!! I mean really, having to decide who I can/should talk to, where I want to go, when I want to go, or what I want to do when I get there is just so damn infuriating. What would I ever do without the Republican party telling me how I should feel about everything & how to live my life?? (Or the Democrats for that matter... Weak, man...) What would any of us do?? (Don't mind me, I've been up since 4 AM...)
- Legislators in Florida are apparently still talking about arresting & fining people who feed the homeless. (Remember that preacher who said that his mother told him not to feed stray animals"?) And if you haven't heard, the official GOP platform in Texas includes a section calling for the arrest of anyone who helps gay people get married, or engages in "homosexual conduct," etc. Hmm... With DoMA out of the picture, I wonder if they're really going to stick with that agenda...
- Apparently it's "weird" that I've never liked Che Guevara & think he was actually kind of a jerk more than a hero... (And that opinion was initially based on the story that portrayed him in a "good" light. Then I read actual parts of his diary, and ack... We would not have gotten along... & for that, I probably would have been shot, point blank, no warning.) I've been told that I'm "less of a liberal" now? Ye-a, whatever. He had good intentions, sure, but I choose peace over murder to get what I want, thanks. Evolution, not revolution.
- Heinz has finally stopped using high-fructose corn syrup in the original formula. It's now called "Simply Heinz." Meh. Idk, I've been consistently cutting out artificial sweeteners & preservatives over the past 2.5 years, including swapping regular Heinz ketchup for the organic version (since Hunt's is NOT ketchup. Call it tomato sauce, whatever, but ew!!!), but maybe we will go the cheaper route on this one... (Also have been slowly weaning myself off the sweet & really salty things, and training myself to like spicy food... I guess we'll call it Peace Corps training. I never thought I could find things to be too sweet or not spicy enough... Taste buds are weird.) Btw, jury's still out on the effects of artificial sweeteners, including agave syrup (which supposedly has the same hypothetical effects as hfcs...). Never been something I've particularly worried about or went out of my way to avoid, since there's not much of any of it in my diet anyway. So as I always say, all things in moderation, and read your labels! I need to go grab some yogurt, because my mouth is on fire... Oops...
Speaking of Social Democracies- Dearest Sweden. Let's be honest here, I don't know what real skills I have to offer you, but PLEASE LET ME IN!!! I've loved you since the moment I... Well, I don't remember, but it's been forever!
Immigration to Europe is worse than Arizona... Under strict lock and key, legal or "other." The legal process takes forever, and it's impossible to even get past the first round-- Studied abroad in Australia for 5 months, & now they're telling me that unless I have some incredibly rare talent they can exploit, they probably won't let me move there for work. Same for the rest of Europe... I get that the economy sucks all over, and jobs are scarce, etc, but really? I don't get how freegans manage to live as long and as well as they do, but I'm not about to try it. [sigh] This world is all kinds of messed up. Now if you'll excuse me, my day off has been replaced with yet ANOTHER 9 hour shift & I have about 4 hours to actually sleep...
- Guys, cover your eyes, this is girly stuff you (and many other women, most times including myself) don't want to hear about (& not something I'd usually ever talk about. Ever. There is only one person in the world I've ever been comfortable talking to about this stuff, & she's a thousand miles away. Btw, when are you getting up here, dammit?! lol...) - After being sent home from work because of cramps (yea, that bad... Being doubled over in Pathmark one too many times lead me to the most amazing pills on the planet for only $20 a month, but unemployment & my disdain/fear for certain types of doctors/exams stopped that train...) Am I the only one still totally grossed out by this cup thing?! I mean, ack. I've long since moved on to recycled, all natural, unbleached materials etc, & I can deal with the reusables & I'm actually enjoying making my own again, but that cup thing, that's just going way too far... I know people who've used it & love it, but... blech. And I just heard the most disgusting thing (after Eric Matthews just went on about water breaking & mucous &... ack... I am NEVER having kids. There are some things about which I'd rather like to pretend to be ignorant.)... Using... er... "leftovers" to fertilize one's plants. I get fish tank water, but there's something very unsanitary about using one's own bodily fluids in the garden (...and then proceeding to harvest and eat from the garden)... To me, there is nothing empowering about this whatsoever. It's just... ack. The very idea is still appalling. Reviews say you can feel when it's full... All I can think about is sloshing... Sorry, overshare? I'm as grossed out as you are. So uncomfortable just thinking about it... The funny thing is, a woman came up with this idea... Ex-roomie & I spent too much time one day analyzing all of the silly things men come up with to "empower women," like those funnels designed so women can pee standing up. I mean really, what the fuck?! did we ASK for something like that? was there some memo I missed where we all cried and begged the men to let us pee standing up too??? was there a need for that? market??? what kind of perv sits around thinking up things like that anyway? (And now I'm wondering if I'm thinking about this too much. Hey, I'm a young female, this shit is relevant... Anyway, I think we've all had quite enough of this topic... ^^")
- 8/29/10 >:-o
what? no, i'm not reading the news... why would you say that? oh, i know i look like i'm about to strangle someone, & i'm screaming at my laptop, but i couldn't possibly have just read a news article about ppl in tennessee burning down a mosque construction site & calling the worshipers "terrorists"... fucking evil hypocritical bastards...
the way we're going, we're destroying ourselves from the inside out. your "terrorists" don't need to do a thing except pretend to exist. (since just the idea of them makes half the country shit their pants...)
so yea, i'm not reading anything... nothing what. so. fucking. ever.

So... Palin's little facebook comment-- I wish I could be optimistic & believe that she actually feels this way. But I'm a realist, so... Yea right. I know they call it an epiphany for a reason, but let's think about that for a moment. Either she got a new, sane, writer, or something's up... If it continues, you know what I'd be pretty ok with that. A more sane Palin is better than the *ahem* monster McCain unleashed upon the world. Any improvement is, well... an improvement. I believe that people can change if they really try to... for the most part. (Though yes, sometimes it really can just be too late. I mean seriously, serial killers & sociopathic dictators start donating to charity & save the world from global warming. I won't name names, because of that whole Godwin's Law thing, but really, does anyone think that after what he did people would think of him as a good person no matter what he tried? Sane, non-racist people I mean?) But still, if we are to believe that she agrees with this sentiment: can you say hypocrite??? Her FB remarks might've been more believable if they weren't drowned out by the "Reload!" every 5 minutes. Oh, but please, Ms. Palin, go right ahead use your AK-47s and 'I hate non-WASPs' bullshit to promote "religious tolerance." Right after you finish discussing how we're a "Christian nation" and therefore Christ has to be a part of every goddamn thing we do in this country, from allowing the death penalty since God obviously didn't mean that whole "Thou Shalt Not Kill" thing. At least, not for adults. Otherwise war might be an issue, huh... No, no... He meant unborn children! Once they're born, you just don't give a shit right? Especially when they're living in poverty, or sick & without health insurance or access to care; or they're being abused & molested by parents or [gasp] priests, or raped & unable to get help or deal with unwanted pregnancies, or unable to prevent any pregnancy in the first place because using birth control interferes with a cluster of cells' right to control its host's life; or maybe they're just dirty & tired & hungry from a trip across an imaginary line, because their parents are desperate to give their children a better, safer life & will do anything to protect & love their children. So yea, must've been a typo, or the editors left that last part out. Because the Christian God controls the entire universe, even that of the heathens, & it's your job to save us from the fiery depths of hell, right? And that's why we can't have a mosque, or a community center, or, oh what's it called, religious freedom in the form of freedom from religion... Oh well. K thanx kiss kiss. Bitch.
Do I seem a little angry tonight? I promise, it's just the chocolate milk & (slightly burnt) organic waffles.
