Personal things.

Share on Twitter:

Ok so maybe I've been neglecting this blog for a little while... I've been in a bit of a funk lately over a lot of things (i.e. Japan and the rest of the Pan-Pacific region; the whole Santana/lesbian/more biphobia thing; Libya and the fact that another cousin, who is apparently in the Navy, said that he's headed there soon -- despite Obama insisting that no US troops would be on the ground there... Which just has me worried about air and sea... I don't trust anyone at all anymore; and this feminism thing... You don't realize how isolating these things can be, when you feel like such a blip against this wave of Same Opinion. And it's so hard to find people who feel the same way you do. This has kind of been the underlying theme of the week. Between bi things and me vs. feminism and politics... Nothing feels right anymore.), and I'm still dealing with the insanity that is my life... As quickly as much-needed money comes, it's gone in half the time.

I'm always active on Tumblr, because it's an escape. But here I can't hide behind reblogs. The Glee posts here aren't that big of a deal, because it's not all that different from what I'd do on Tumblr. But I haven't a clue what's going on in the real world. I haven't even updated my newsreel in over a week, and that's something I usually did every day.

So I just need a little bit of time and space to get back to some semblance of normalcy. Mostly because it's 3 AM and I'm browsing Tumblr and playing Poppit instead of getting some much needed rest... And I can't remember the last time I ate. (There's food in the house, I just never get around to eating... I don't feel like cooking anymore. Or eating.)

Brad Falchuk, We don't feel included. #biphobia #BisexualErasure #Glee

Share on Twitter:

Way to FAIL at "leading by example," RIB.

I'm still avoiding politics for the most part, due to the situation in Japan... I just can't right now. But I've spent the entire day raging about 2 topics. The first one is kind of touchy and has to do with cissexist heteronormative feminists, so again, I'm avoiding it. (And it seriously pisses me off that feminism is considered "too holy" to ever criticize... Complain about anything ever and you're instantly labeled "anti-feminist" or "anti-woman" regardless of what you actually said. [rolls eyes] If you have a problem with constructive criticism, GFY.)

The second is Glee. And yea, biphobia. Or rather, what appears to be, yet again, bisexual erasure... Remember how last week I said that the Brittana episode wasn't biphobic, that in fact it was WIN? Guess not. Because despite the fact that Santana talked about her fluidity, and the fact that she was attracted to both men and women, she is apparently not bisexual, or pansexual, or even fluid it seems. Instead, we're getting another 100% gay character who just happens to have had a history of sleeping with men. And Brittany. Apparently her lack of emotional attachment to any of the men she was with (which I attributed to her intense love for Brittany) means she was just homophobic and can't possibly be bisexual, because apparently we ladies are supposed to fall madly in love with every single person we ever sleep with. Can't ever just enjoy sex for the sex, huh... And while again, even the mention of the word "lesbian" on Glee was a Big Thing, and the acknowlegment that they exist, how can I not be annoyed that once again, bi is shoved aside? You had a huge, unprecedented opportunity, and you blew it. But as upsetting as that was, that wasn't what seriously pissed me off this time. No, it was Brad Falchuk's explanation:
“(Lesbian visibility) was our intention,” Falchuk added. “We want to make sure everybody is included. Santana is a lesbian. She might not be ready to come out yet, but she is.”
I highlighted it in red. (This is from AfterEllen) "We want to make sure everybody is included." So what you're trying to tell me, Brad, is that bisexual men do not exist in any way, "bicurious" people will always either be straight or gay despite being attracted to more than one sex and/or gender, and it's very important to have multiple gay characters on a show to be positive role models for gay and questioning teens but no one else-- but the show is just oh so super inclusive? But the possibility of having a positive multisexual role model on Glee requires all of you to comment on "no, they're totally gay," they're always "one of [you]"? Oh yea, real inclusive. What about trans*? I don't see them represented. LGBT-- oh wait, I forgot the B & T aren't real. We're not "one of them," isn't that right, Ryan Murphy? So again, we're left with Kurt's biphobic rant, which (as a result) basically leads to an argument, which leads to "oh, wait, I AM gay!" which leads to "I've been looking for you forever, fuck the fact that you insulted me-- Let's Make Out." No resolution whatsoever. They never spoke of it again, and apparently Blaine has entirely forgotten the incident and has forgiven Kurt. Or it was never a big deal to him in the first place. There was no real counterargument made against those specific points, there was no discussion of what it meant or the implications, and it seems the fandom has moved on as well. We hoped for an explanation, we didn't get one. And now it appears we simply aren't going to. Because apparently, to RIB, it's not important. Even if Brittany "officially" becomes the bisexual/pansexual in the group, I suspect that the moment Brittana actually happens, her relationship with Artie will be forgotten, and her sexual history will become entirely irrelevant. Because bisexuals don't exist-- not on Glee, and not in real life. Thanks a bunch, RIB.

So while everyone else is still freaking out about the big kiss, the "first gay male teen kiss on primetime TV" (which it actually was not, but lol if you think anyone gives a shit... ugh), a few of us have been contemplating just how "inclusive" you writers really are. This won't be the last time you hear from me.

This has been a mini-rant brought to you by the letter B, and the number 2.

UPDATE: It seems that others at least in the Tumblr fandom group have finally started to discuss this... maybe.

Pacific Earthquake and #Tsunami... I can't even... #japan #donate

Share on Twitter:

I can't even... Japan. Russia. Hawaii & California. The tsunami, the 8.9 magnitude earthquake that devastated Japan... I can't even.

Please, please donate.

  • Red Cross (though I've just been informed that they too discriminate against LGBT people... I assume that has to do with the blood donations? Forgot all about that...) but if you'd still like to donate to them, go to www.redcross.org, or text "Red Cross" to 90999 ($10 will be charged to your phone bill).
  • Doctors Without Borders (another organization that does amazing work all over the world. And apparently does not discriminate against anyone.) - $5 minimum. (I know that times are tough, believe me, I know. But if you can even give just this much...)
  • Peace Winds America - $5 minimum.
  • Save the Children
  • UNICEF is on standby.
Other ways in which we can help - Google has launched a crowdsourcing People finder for Japan. Even if there isn't anyone you want/need to find, please please share the link so that others can use it. Here is the link again to copy and paste: http://japan.person-finder.appspot.com/?lang=en (English version).

Please keep everyone in the Pacific, especially victims in Japan (who were hit the hardest), in your thoughts, prayers, and good wishes.

Somebody's been busy...

Share on Twitter:

So rumor has it that Storyteller Knight has this cool new project that you should totally check out when it's ready... I hear it's going to have all sorts of cool book reviews about a certain legendary king and his circular dining room furniture, and all of those people who sat around said piece of furniture... :-P

I'm trying not to name names or details (in a sad attempt to build suspense, which I am well aware I suck at trying to create...but also because I doubt I could do any of this justice), and it's still under construction, but I strongly suggest you check it out later, because I think it's going to be pretty epic.

More details to follow.

...the f*ck's going on out there? #WestboroBastards #WIunion #Libya

Share on Twitter:

As you can probably tell, I haven't been posting all that much about... well, anything. As I said before, things got complicated... and odds are, I'm about to lose internet for a while.

So... because it's one of the first things everyone on either Tumblr or Twitter has mentioned today - the Supreme Court ruled in favor of hate trolls Westboro Baptist Church. And while apparently this is unpopular opinion, I have to agree with the ruling. It would have been far worse if they had ruled against WBC, because that would be a direct violation of our constitutionally protected right to free speech; and if the Supreme Court can rule against them, they can rule against us. It seems like a lot of people might be missing this point... and I get it, really, because WBC are truly horrible, disgusting people, but I would be a hypocrite if I didn't say this--  freedom of speech means freedom of speech. (Which is why I also tolerate the existence of voices such as Beck and She-Who-Will-Not-Be-Named. Doesn't mean I approve of what they are saying or doing in any way, shape, or form, but I can't condone forced censorship just because I don't like what they say/do.) I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. When I quoted that last year, I meant it. And I'm not going to go back on that now because of a bunch of snivelling, attentionwhoring shit-for-brains asswipes closed-minded trolls are trying to spread hate. I still stand by everything I've ever said about them before, and I don't think they should be allowed anywhere near a funeral by any means, but are they allowed to be inbred, rabid fucktards ignorant hate-mongering bigots/mumpsimes? Yes. (And to Phelps, I quote - "If I want your expert opinion on something, I'll ask you what it's like to be a douchebag." You are also like a stream of bat's piss. Mayka ti duha na mechki v gorata.) And remember - THEY JUST DO THIS SHIT FOR THE ATTENTION. So there, they got what, 2 minutes from me? I'm done. (And I usually don't wish ill on people, but I laughed when I read that they got pepper-sprayed at one funeral. I think I might've laughed harder if it were tear gas, if not for the situation in Egypt. And I am unapologetic tonight.)

Libya - Ok I have no idea what's going on... A quick peek at Mother Jones says Gaddafi expanded an attack against rebels, killing 35 and wounding 100. Out of all of the revolutions that we've seen this year, this has been the most violent and deadly by a longshot. So let's keep fighting here to #FreeLibya any way we can help... The Libyan people have our support.

Wisconsin. OMFG Wisconsin... I can't even... Democratic Representative Nick Milroy was tackled by police today as he attempted to enter the Wisconsin Capitol building to get some clothes out. (He was one of the 4 awesome legislators who moved their desks outside to talk to constituents.) Also, Walker has given "final notice" of layoffs to union workers. And this entire fucking situation is a total abuse of power on Governor Walker's part. And that is all I'm willing to say on this subject, lest this turn into another angry rant. And there is birthday cake tonight, and I'm still working on my taxes, so I can't go there right now. Maybe Sunday. Until then, I will quietly seethe over here... (Ok, more like I'm just way too distracted by stupid things to care about anything at all right now.)

Last thing - so rumor has it that apparently some self-hating "pro-life" women are leading a national tour to set back women's rights 100 years or so, starting with reproductive rights/health and ending with "a woman's place is in the kitchen, serving her God-fearing husband and popping out babies." We need to get on this or something.

On a completely unrelated side note - Oreos fucking taste like tar. At least, what I imagine tar would taste like if it were baked into the shape of a cookie with some powdered shaving cream for "frosting."

Can you tell I'm feeling a little... combative tonight? Meh...
